"The new format enables the company to fit up to 12 hours on 1 CD, so audio books on MP3-CD's cost much less to duplicate and package than cassette editions; consequently, we are able to offer them at very reasonable prices. In this format, listeners can now own these stellar performances for about the same price as the hardcover," according to company owner Delia White.
"There are many inviting features MP3's provide," says White. "MP3 audio has a wider frequency range than cassettes do - and there's no tape hiss. So audio books on MP3 CD's just sound better. Bookmarking is easy, as each audio book is divided into scenes - the way the author intended. Users can navigate through their audio books instantly with just a click of a mouse or press of a button."
White also notes that free MP3 playback software is available for every kind of computer, so that if you have a CD drive in your computer, you can play an MP3-CD. And many new CD players - portable, home & car - are capable of playing MP3-CD's. The company features links to purchase the various types of players and adapters on its website.
Subsequent titles will be released according to demand. Looks like the next one to be converted will be SHARDS OF HONOR, which will cost $24.95. Prices of these MP3-CD's will vary from $19.95 - $29.95, according to the length of the production.
We're very excited to be able to make these productions better sounding and more affordable. I'm the lucky one who gets to proof the master recordings and I have to tell you I am really enjoying the convenience & flexibility the MP3-CD format allows. They're wonderful to listen to while surfing the 'net!
