Subject: (news) Irresistible Forces reprints
Date: Wed, 9 Jun 2004
Some happy-dance news from my agent: the trade paperback edition of
Irresistible Forces has now had two modest but respectable re-printings,
atop its intial print run. This was doubtless in response to re-orders,
which holds out the hope that returns may also be low, making for a healthy
title.
No word yet on when the mass market edition from ROC will be printed; it's not on the schedule yet.

Subject: (chat) Fw: [LMB] Winterfair Gifts! no sp*ilers
Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2004
(In answer to a question from a listee as to the order in which my last two Vorkosigan stories were written:)
I wrote Diplomatic Immunity first, and "Winterfair Gifts" immediately thereafter. The novella had an earlier due date than the next thing in my queue, which was at the time the long-awaited (by me) 2nd Chalion book, eventually Paladin of Souls.
As it turned out, the novella could have waited, but it was probably better done while the Vorkosigans were fresh in mind. So it all worked out in the end.
I'd had some, but not all, of the notions for Miles's wedding in mind for a long time, including the rather crippling pre-wedding tensions for Ekaterin; Roic, Taura, and the mystery plot were late additions.

Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2004
A reporter from the local arts newspaper interviewed seven Minneapolis female S&SF writers recently, including me, in honor of the then-upcoming Wiscon; I thought it came out very well.
